As the holy guidance recited in the regular prayers, indeed Qur’an doesn’t need any context. It is perfectly independent of any other source, even totally self-reliant from other old Scriptures.
The use of context of Qur’an within Hadith, Sira, Tafsir, even the Bible, et cetera is needed outside the prayers, such as in a debate.

Methinks the reason Islam can be accepted among the circle of the leftists and liberals is the Political Islam that is not available in Christianity and Judaism. Islam has twofold feature inherently: Religion and Political ideology.

Nevertheless the notable absence of pope in Islam prevents political corruption in the name of Islam.

Political movement in Islam is still in a primitive form. Political party in Modern Age is administered and managed by the civilians but in Islam it is run by a military and strong man, hence dictatorship is hardly avoidable.

Moslems should understand that hegemony is no longer achieved thru military conquest but via economy (lobby), election (politicians), demography (voting) and education. Campuses are very much sympathetic toward Moslem cause such as the Palestine State. The Palestine issue wins the hearts in campuses. So, Why not try other victories. Everyone loves winning again, right?

In the time or place when religions become a dustbin of history, irrelevant and outdated, Islam would stand still, thanks to the Political aspect.

Yeah as in the US, Christianity has drifted slowly into irrelevance because the Conservatives already give up, throwing the white towel into the ring of political arena.
