According to the Hadith Mohammed both approved and disapproved of the killing of women and children. What is certain is that Mohammed approved of Night Raids on sleeping families. We as Christians reject a Religion and a confused Prophet sanctioning such a morally depraved practice

181 hadith found in ‘The Book of Jihad and Expedition (Kitab Al-Jihad wal-Siyar)‘ of Sahih Muslim.
4319  It is narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullah that a woman was found killed in one of the battles fought by the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). He disapproved of the killing of women and children.
4320  It is narrated by Ibn ‘Umar that a woman was found killed in one of these battles; so the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) forbade the killing of women and children.
4321  It is reported on the authority of Sa’b b. Jaththama that the Prophet of Allah (may peace be upon him), when asked about the women and children of the polytheists being killed during the night raid, said: They are from them.
4322  It is narrated by Sa’b b. Jaththama that he said (to the Holy Prophet): Messenger of Allah, we kill the children of the polytheists during the night raids. He said: They are from them.
4323  Sa’b b. Jaththama has narrated that the Prophet (may peace be upon him) asked: What about the children of polytheists killed by the cavalry during the night raid? He said: They are from them.

  1. θ says:

One sahih Hadith is checked by other sahih Hadith.
A case of the mistaken killing of early night raid is a reason for a famous prohibition: “Thereafter the Messenger of Allah prohibited to kill women and children.”

Abi Dawud Book 14, Hadith 2666
Al Sa’b bin Jaththamah said that he asked the Apostle of Allaah about the polytheists whose settlement were attacked at night when some of their offspring and women were smitten. The Prophet: They are of them. ‘Amr bin Dinar used to say: they are regarded in the same way as their parents. Al-Zuhri said: Thereafter the Messenger of Allah prohibited to kill women and children.

  2. madmanna says:

He said three times “they are from them” to express his indifference to their deaths. The word “mistakenly” does not occur in the text so we can assume either that they were killed by mistake or deliberately.

Why did not the Moral Example per se forbid such forms of inhumane warfare? Could he not fight the polytheists in such a way that the lives of the women and children were not in danger?

The Jews knew that Mohammed could not be a prophet from God because of his cowardly way of waging war. This would contravene the Geneva Convention. There are no night raids in the bible.

  3. θ says:

“madmanna says: He said three times “they are from them” to express his indifference to their deaths. ”

No, Prophet Muhammad just reveals otherwise that actually it is the heathen men who have mistakenly killed their own children and women.
Especially at time of getting desperate or under sudden attack, the heathen men used to force their wives and children to be tied around themselves, as a “human shield”, as well as to rouse their bravery.

“Why did not the Moral Example per se forbid such forms of inhumane warfare? ”

    Yes he did, but afterward:
Abi Dawud Book 14, Hadith 2666
Al-Zuhri said: Thereafter the Messenger of Allah prohibited to kill women and children.

Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 59, Hadith Number 10.
Narated By Anas : Allah’s Apostle reached Khaibar at night and it was his habit that, whenever he reached the enemy at night, he will not attack them till it was morning.

“The Jews knew that Mohammed could not be a prophet from God because of his cowardly way of waging war. ”

The Jews reject him due to their racism, that he is not a Jew.
Abraham, Gideon, David, Joram, and the ancient Israelites do the night raids.

“There are no night raids in the bible.”

    Night raids in the Bible:
    Gen 14:15
And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them,

    Jud 7
9 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

    1Sam 30:17
And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

    2Ki 8:21
So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites,

    1Sam 31:12
All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons,

  4. θ says:

Heathen men used to force their wives and children to be tied around themselves, as a “human shield”, as well as to rouse up their highest fierceness in battle, also the presence of their families is meant to prevent a desertion of war.

Several things are worth noting: although many Arab armies brought their women and children along on campaigns both to motivate and care for the men, the Meccan army did not. [32]
