    Punishment for those who spent the treasure without paying Zakat is the Hell’s plates, but it will happen later in the Afterlife, not in this world. Prophet Muhammad forbids the use of fire for punishment.
    The treasure is very much significant in ancient time because it is a major fund or resource for defending and expanding Islam.

    Muslim Book 5, Hadith 2163
    Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger as saying: No owner of the treasure who does not pay Zakat (would be spared) but (his hoards) would be heated in the Fire of Hell and these would be made into plates and with these his sides, his forehead would be cauterised till Allah would pronounce judgment among His servants during a day, the extent of which would be fifty thousand years.

    Bulugh al-Maram Book 11, Hadith 1318
    ‘Ubadah bin as-Samit narrated that The Messenger of Allah said: “Do not be dishonest (and treacherous) about the war booty (i.e. steal from it before it is divided legally), as Ghulul will be like fire (for the ones who got involved in it) and a cause of disgrace to those who are guilty of it in this world and in the Hereafter.”

    It was narrated from ‘Amr bin Shu’aib, He Allah’s Messenger said: O people! Give back even needles large and small, for Al-Ghulul will be (a source of) shame and disgrace for those who took it on the Day of Resurrection.

    The treasure is utilised to extend Islam and used to extend the structure of Ka’bah areals.

    ‘A’isha, wife of Allah’s Apostle, heard Allah’s Messenger as saying: If your people, had not been recent converts to Islam, I would have spent the treasure of the Ka’ba in the way of Allah, and would have constructed its door just on the level of the ground and would have encompassed in it the space of Hijr.

    Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Khosrau will be ruined, and there will be no Khosrau after him, and Caesar will surely be ruined and there will be no Caesar after him, and you will spend their treasures in Allah’s Cause.” He called, “War is deceit’.
    Bukhari Vol. 3, Book 40, Hadith 545
    Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger said, “No bloodmoney will be charged if somebody dies in a mine or in a well or is killed by an animal; and if somebody finds a treasure in his land he has to give one-fifth of it to the Government.”
