Foreign bondmen could not be released from slavery because they did not belong to the redeemed community of Israel

Redemption of Bondmen

Leviticus 25 v 39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant: 40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile: 41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. 42 For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen. 43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God. 44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. 46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.

    Privilege of Hebrews.
Hebrews are the biological descendants of Eber including Arabs, such as Ishmaelites (of Ishmael, son of Abraham), Moabites (of Lot, cousin of Abraham), Edomites (of Esau son of Isaac) and Midianites (of Keturah, wife of Abraham).
Hebrew slaves have only six years for automatic manumission or unconditional liberty.
    Exo 21
2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
    Jer 34
9 That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.

One of reason why the consistent Jehovah destroyed Jewish Temple and Judah kingdom is because that Judeans did obey the Hebrew liberty law, but wrongly tried to trick Jehovah by re-enslaving again the same free Hebrews.
    Jer 34
15 And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my name:16 But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.17 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the LORD, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.

Jehovah’s Law of Hebrew’s unconditional liberty.
    Exo 21
2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

    Deut 15
12 And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.13 And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:14 Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him.15 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land of Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee: therefore I command thee this thing to day.

    Jer 34
9 That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.

These laws apply only to the twelve tribes of Israel.

The sinaitic covenant through Moses was only made with them.

God rejected the wild man and his descendants.

  3. θ says:

“madmanna says: These laws apply only to the twelve tribes of Israel. The sinaitic covenant through Moses was only made with them.God rejected the wild man and his descendants.”

In fact Jehovah blessed Ishmael and his descendants, and called him “fruitful” instead of “wild man” in Gen 16:12 of Samaritan Pentateuch.

    Genesis 16:12.

Other blessing over Ishmaelites of being fruitful:
Gen.17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

    Additional comment:
Jewish slaves should be manumitted by Jewish slaveholders after 7 X 7 years (Jubile year), whereas the Hebrew slaves just after 6 years.
    Lev 25
    39. And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile:
    Exo 21
2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

  5. madmanna says:

If Jubilee came first the slave had to be set free. Otherwise he would have to serve the full six years.
