  1. θ says:

Inserting Jesus’ mother into the Trinity is impossible in Islam because Allah is placed as the “third” of the three (Spirit), not Mary.
Mary is rather the 4th supplement apart from the Trinity. Catholics worshiped her because she is a joint-recipient of worship when the Son is brought into the world via her womb.

Q.5, v.73. Certainly, they become disbelievers who say: ‘Allah is the third of the three,’ whereas there is none worthy of worship except the One God.
Spirit is more similar to Allah:
    (i) He doesn’t have a Father nor a man Son.
    (ii) He doesn’t forgive blasphemy.

(iv) He does not need mediator.
    (v) He is called the God, not simply a god.
Islam rejects the Trinity, so even though Allah is placed upon the status of Spirit (3rd person), Islam doesn’t believe that.

In addition to 12 major Olympian Gods, the Greeks have hundreds of lesser deities, demigods, and local spirits. Certain Greeks built an altar to worship a deity they called “Agnostos Theos”, that is “Unknown God”, to accommodate various cultures of Hellenised generations.

  2. madmanna says:

[5.73] Certainly they disbelieve who say: Surely Allah is the third (person) of the three; and there is no god but the one God, and if they desist not from what they say, a painful chastisement shall befall those among them who disbelieve.
[5.74] Will they not then turn to Allah and ask His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

[5.75] The Messiah, son of Marium is but an apostle; apostles before him have indeed passed away; and his mother was a truthful woman; they both used to eat food. See how We make the communications clear to them, then behold, how they are turned away.

you said: “Inserting Jesus’ mother into the Trinity is impossible in Islam because Allah is placed as the “third” of the three (Spirit), not Mary.”

You are now denying the truth of the Quran, because that is what your holy book from heaven, supposedly created by Allah and eternal , is clearly stating.

The text is clearly saying that Jesus and Mary are the other two persons who make up the three.

You are not a Muslim, you are an apostate; a mushrik making up his own version of Islam.

  3. θ says:

The Arabic word كانا “they both” refers to a group of Messengers in which Jesus is just one member of, and Mary who happens to be not a Prophet. Both Prophets and Mary ate foods.
If the word كانا were wrongly interpreted as Jesus and Mary, then it would imply another error that the previous Prophets didn’t eat foods.

Q.5, v.75. Messiah son of Mary was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed before him. His mother was a believer. They both (Arabic = كانا ) used to eat food.

Hence, in Q.5, v.75 the word كانا doesn’t refer to both Jesus and Mary, but both the Prophets and the non-Prophet person who can also perform a miracle.

  4. madmanna says:

“they both” refers obviously to Mary and Jesus.

Jesus was just a messenger and Mary was just a believer, they both ate food. That is what the text clearly and plainly says.

So according to the Koran they could not be gods and make up the other two thirds of the koranic trinity.

  5. θ says:

“madmanna says:So according to the Koran they could not be gods and make up the other two thirds of the koranic trinity.”

The point of Quran in Q.5, v.75 is not the rejection of the Trinity, but the rejection of divinity of both Prophets and ordinary people.
From Q.5, v.17 we can deduce that the Trinitarians at the time of Prophet Muhammad believed there are 3 persons: the Father, Son the second (Messiah) and Allah the third (Spirit).
Certainly both Moslems and Trinitarians agree that Allah refuses to identify Himself with the Father. So, who is the Father? According to Paul’s inspiration – which he declared to Greeks – the Father is a lesser deity who fathered all things, who raised Jesus, whose altar is built by Greeks to accommodate a syncretic belief of the “Unknown God”.

  6. madmanna says:

“[5.17] Certainly they disbelieve who say: Surely, Allah– He is the Messiah, son of Marium. Say: Who then could control anything as against Allah when He wished to destroy the Messiah son of Marium and his mother and all those on the earth? And Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them; He creates what He pleases; and Allah has power over all things,”

5 v 17 only mentions the Messiah. Only one person. No mention of three persons or a trinity.

  7. θ says:

“madmanna says:5 v 17 only mentions the Messiah. Only one person. No mention of three persons or a trinity.”

Q.5, v.73. Certainly, they become disbelievers who say: ‘Allah is the third of the three,’ whereas there is none worthy of worship except the One God.
